Hey there! I’m back again! For those of you who don’t know me already, my name is Shree Lakshmi Nair and I’m running to be re-elected as your Vice President of Wellbeing. The theme of my campaign this year is called ‘EXPAND’! I am sure you are curious to know what EXPAND is all about?

I was privileged enough to be chosen as your representative of wellbeing in the student council for the past 2 years. My journey in the council as well my campaigns in the past has been backed by 4 pillars which is opportunity, knowledge, experience, finally the most important one which is the combination of the three and that is ‘action’. Ever since I have joined the student council, I have been witnessing wellbeing in our university at the student council level as well as the university level progressing over the years. We have various communities and groups in our university such as the student council, wellbeing advisors’ team, psychology society and the student life experience team. All these communities and groups have been formed or come into light over the years in order to achieve the same goal which is to enhance the student life and wellbeing of the students of our university. Hence, my main aim this year is to connect all of these communities and groups in every way possible as well as utilize all the wellbeing associated facilities we have been provided with in our new campus and finally utilize the opportunity of being located in the commercial hub we are in the most effective manner to EXPAND our reach as well prominence at the university level as well as across all wellbeing and social associated communities in knowledge park. I have several inter university collaboration plans for our social clubs as well so that the talent of our university students can be expanded and reached out all over the Knowledge Park communities.

I have 6 main plans this year, which are:

  1. Change in social clubs timing
  2. Collaborated events with our international campuses
  3. Expand our social media page like the Humans of Heriot Watt
  4. Reach newer heights with our ‘Watt’s Up’ Podcast
  5. Have more engagement from our Postgraduate students.
  6. Celebrate more awareness days as a community.

I’m sure you all must be thinking ‘why Shree again?’, over the past 2 years I have been working along side with our other council members to make wellbeing a more relevant and prominent aspect in our university. In order to bring this change onto the new campus as well in a smooth and effective manner it is necessary to have someone backed by experience as well the one who has the most knowledge of these developing changes to keep the transition and the start of this new era an easy as well as a memorable one!
