Introduction

Sport plays a central role in contributing to the student experience at Heriot-Watt University, Dubai. Our campus offers a wealth of opportunities for our students to participate, compete and experience sport alongside their studies.

Sports clubs play an integral part in the delivery of students leading a healthy and active lifestyle, offering opportunities and experiences that inspire and motivate our students to be active.

With 10 sports clubs on offer from; football, table tennis, cricket and dragon boating students can participate and compete in an environment that cultivates inclusivity across the student community.

There are approximately 400 students who are members of sports clubs, with a significant number of students taking part in additional events such as the UAE National Sports Day and the Dubai Cares Walk for Education throughout the year.

Participation in sport and physical activity plays a broader role in the well-being of many students, presenting opportunities to make friends, develop confidence and provide a sense of belonging.

The Student Council is committed to providing an excellent sporting experience to all students, at all levels across all sports, whilst striving to become leaders across the UAE in the delivery of student sports activities and opportunities. We are committed to developing the perfect environment in the pursuit of excellence, allowing us to enhance the student experience, influence personal development and engage with the wider student population
