Vote Kaushal for Progress!

Hello everyone!
My name is Kaushal, I’m a 2nd year BBA student and am hoping to be your executive of wellbeing.

I wish to be the executive of wellbeing as it is the role where I feel like I have the best chance of leading a positive change to ensure that students get the appropriate support that they require in all roles that they might occupy. I have developed my campaign on feedback & ideas from fellow students on how the Council can better support them in their highly varied circumstances.

My aim is to decrease any perceived stigma associated with approaching wellbeing services and to provide support to students who might not yet feel comfortable with seeking the aide of wellbeing services. I plan to continue seeking and actively implementing wider student feedback into all proposals and efforts I undertake as an executive; I have also been an extremely active member in social clubs and believe more can be done to support their activities.

If elected, I will push for the following measures and changes:

  1. Creation of a resource library & training to help students provide better basic mental health first aid for themselves and their friends as well as to help students cope better with providing aide to others in their lives. This is alongside the continuation of promotional efforts for wellbeing services and will serve to aid the portion of the student population who might be hesitant to approach student wellbeing for whatever reason but are comfortable speaking to friends.
  2. Improve access to volunteering opportunities for new students by giving them more chances to volunteer and improve transparency and response speed in the volunteering process.
  3. Provide more support to and highlight social clubs and their activities by incentivizing active club participation and further recognizing social club leadership efforts.

These changes would work to expand the reach and support of wellbeing services while increasing transparency on internal processes and encouraging student participation in council activity.

Thank you for reading my manifesto and do not hesitate to contact me at kaushal.k24 on Instagram or at kk2051@hw.ac.uk if you wish to discuss my ideas, ask questions, give feedback or just to say hello!

Sincerely,
Kaushal Jitendra Kothari
