Our story
Where talent
meets
the court.
The tennis club is one of the most active sports clubs at Heriot-Watt University Dubai. We train twice a week at JSS Private School, enter inter-university competitions as a club, and this season took the girls’ team to the final of the BITS Sports Festival and the boys’ team through to the quarterfinals.
From the first talent hunt of the semester to the awards night at the end of the year, the council runs the club with the same standard we ask of our players. Sessions start on time, squads are picked on what you show on court, and everyone gets court time.
You do not need a ranking or a history in the sport to be here. Some of our members have played competitively for years; others picked up a racquet for the first time in September. Both walk into the same session.

Everything you need
to actually play.
Membership
Open to every student, whether you have played on a squad before or have never held a racquet. You will find a place in a supportive group either way.
Training
Twice-weekly sessions built around technique, footwork, point construction and fitness. Come with a goal, leave better than you arrived.
Tournaments
Inter-university competition, festival tournaments, friendlies and an internal club ladder. Real matches, not just drills.
Facilities
Full-size courts at JSS Private School, club racquets and balls for anyone starting out, and equipment available to all members.
Socials
Grand Slam screenings, club awards night, socials and festive activities that make the season worth remembering.
Network
Connections with alumni, the other sports clubs and students from every programme and year across the university.

A full year, start to finish. Find your place, earn your spot, go further than last season, and close it out together.

Talent hunt and first sessions
Meet the club, get on court and settle in. New students can walk straight into a session, returning players reconnect and set the bar for the year.

Trials and squad selection
Put yourself forward for the team. Compete with other ambitious players and show what you bring. You do not need a perfect season to back yourself.

Throughout the year
Tournaments and fixtures
Weekly training, friendlies, festival tournaments and inter-university competition, with a runners-up finish to improve on.

End of season
Closing ceremony and awards night
Celebrate the year together, hand out the awards and recognise the players who made the season what it was.

Manav Desai
Sets the direction and standards of the club, represents tennis across the university, and keeps the council and the squad pulling towards the same goal.

Turns the plan into the week-to-week reality of the club, supporting training, team activities, and the day-to-day operations that keep everything moving.

Runs everything you see from the club online, from match-day coverage and results to making sure every member knows what is on and how to get involved.

Everything runs through the club WhatsApp group, so start there. Turn up on a Tuesday or a Thursday, meet the squad and play. No trial required to attend your first session.
